It’s one of her last nights as a single woman, so of course you want to send her off in style. Sure, you could round up her best girlfriends for a night of club hopping, strippers, and suggestively shaped dessert items – there’s certainly a bit of fun to be had on such a night.
But what if the bride-to-be isn’t feeling the typical bachelorette vibe? Fortunately, there are loads of unique, and just as fun party themes to take her from single lady to wifey. Here’s a list of creative ideas to get the party started.
1. Sweat it Out
Nothing like a good sweat session to help alleviate that pre-wedding stress. Head to the gym for a spin class or the barre for fitness ballet. There’s also yoga, rock climbing, pole classes, burlesque, kayaking…this list goes on. Get some ideas from the other ladies and see what’s available in your area.
2. Road Trip!
Who says you actually have to plan out every little detail? Add some spontaneity to the bachelorette party with a weekend road trip. Obviously, have a general idea of where you’re going, but don’t get bogged down in the details. Stop at roadside attractions, eat at hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and see where the road takes you.
3. Bridal Paintball
This is the perfect bachelorette party activity for the bride who isn’t afraid to get a little dirty. Have everyone head to a second-hand store to pick out the ugliest bridesmaid’s dresses they can find (the bride can look for a wedding dress), then put them on and get ready for war…bridal style! After the paintball party, get dressed up and go out for dinner and drinks.
4. Learn to Mix Drinks
Everyone will appreciate their drinks so much more if they mix it themselves. Check out a list of mixology classes and choose whether you’d like to take the party to a venue or have a mixologist teach you the art of mixing drinks in your home.
5. Dude-ette Ranch
Meanwhile, back at the ranch…
Ride horses, fly fish, feed a baby goat, learn some ranching skills, tell stories by the fire. Luxury dude ranches are all about getting back to nature while still enjoying some creature comforts.
6. Get Lucky
Can’t make it to Vegas? No problem. Just set up a mini casino inside your chosen venue with card games, cocktails, and prizes.
7. Perfume Party
Set up a perfume bar and let everyone create their own fragrance. You can purchase kits from places like Vetiver Aromatics, Aromachology, and Starring Fragrances. Just make sure no one is allergic or sensitive to scents.
There are tons of bachelorette party ideas to choose from, but with summer around the corner, I’m thinking a beach bachelorette party sounds quite nice. Sand between the toes, cool ocean water, blue skies and palm trees…and of course all the girls having an amazing time getting sun kissed and sipping coconut water!
Assuming you have the basics covered, like whether the beach is local or destination and how long the party will go on, let’s talk about how you can get the most out of a bachelorette party on the beach.
1. Coordinate Outfits
Have all the guests wear the same color bathing suit, except for the bride – she’ll wear white of course, and maybe a bikini veil! Or have everyone wear a matching tank top and sunglasses. Whatever you choose, having the gang in coordinating outfits is a fun bachelorette tradition and might score the group a pardon should there be any bachelorette shenanigans. *wink wink*
2. Take Photos
I know some people advise against taking photographic “evidence” at bachelorette parties, but you’re not going to want to let these once-in-a-lifetime memories slip through the cracks. Whether you splurge for a professional photographer, have everyone bring their cameras/phones, or designate one guest as the resident photographer, you must capture those amazing bachelorette party moments.
3. Give a Practical Favor
Put together a bachelorette survival kit with everything a beach bunny needs. Think sunglasses, sunscreen, drink koozies, flip flops, snacks, water bottle, towel, and SPF lip balm.
4. Go All-inclusive
The great thing about all-inclusive resorts and hotels is that they lessen the planning stress. Most beach resorts are within walking distance to the beach, if not a few steps from your door. Plus, they have transportation, pre-planned itineraries, swim-up pool bars, restaurants, and spa packages for the bachelorettes who want to start their morning with a massage and glass of cucumber water. Aahhh!
5. Find Shade
When you’re scoping out the beach, find places that either offer shaded areas (cabanas, tree coverage, umbrella chairs) or if there aren’t any, make sure you bring enough umbrellas for everyone for some much needed sun breaks.
6. Get Active
Whether your activities involve beach bumming, adventuring, or a mix of both, make sure there’s something everyone will love. Activities can include renting wave runners, parasailing, surf lessons, sailing, swimming with dolphins, wind surfing, and snorkeling.
7. Cocktail or Mocktail?
Most beaches have liquor laws, so make sure you know them before carting coolers of pina coladas to your spot. If you’re at a resort, it’s likely there will be beach-front bars, but if there’s no alcohol in sight and you definitely want some to sip on during the party, just head back to the hotel room, or whatever venue you’ve chosen, for sun downers. Most importantly, stay hydrated…with water, that is!
8. Lather Up
I know every girl wants a golden glow, but the last thing the bride-to-be needs is a lobster-red burn. Wouldn’t look so great in that beautiful white gown, would it? Make sure everyone, including the bride-to-be, puts on plenty of sunblock (at least SPF 30) and reapplies throughout the day. You’ll still get sun kissed, but it won’t hurt as much.
